Learnology International is a non-profit
research organization to develop "learnology,"
a new science of life-long and life-wide
learning. The traditional discipline of "education"
has focused on teaching, whereas the learner-centered
approach has not been recognized as a defined
area of academic inquiry. Established in
1993 in Tokyo and incorporated in 2001, LI
aims to facilitate a Copernican shift in
people's mind from teaching to learning,
and to build a learning society and make
the Earth a learning planet.
LI's Executive Director, Masato
Homma, Ph.D.,
is an author and sought-after
speaker on
learning, coaching and facilitating
in Japan.
He holds B.A. in sociology from
Univ. of
Tokyo, Master of Planning and
Ph.D. in adult
education from Univ. of Minnesota.
Dr. Homma
has worked at the Minnesota Trade
Office,
and Matsushita Institute of Government
and
Management, and hosted an educational
program
on NHK-TV.
